    Guess who's back...

Hammy has recovered and taken his seat back. Sigh.

It was too much to ask for a second shot, wasn't it...

Controversial Jacques is going to stick his neck on the line here, the way he used to do in the days of The F1 Slate, and say: eventually, it will be good for F1 if Saint Lewis of Stevenage wins every race in 2021. Or, diluting it just a bit, if Mercedes wins every race. That, and only that, will show how terminally broken F1 is and might just save its existence in the long run. Sniffs of hope, such as the Gasly/Pérez victories this year, always hint at good things that never happen.

TL/DR: it's got to get worse before it can ever get better.

Dammit. It means my predicament Prediction is even more likely to be true. And Russell doesn't get to escape reject status.

I'm not surprised about Hamilton wanting to go back to action ASAP, after all:
    - Seeing how Russell almost won on his first Mercedes race was a clear point for the supporters of the "any driver could win 6 World Championships with a Mercedes" idea, which really diminishes Hamilton achievement during his tittle runs (I won't enter on the debate if this idea is right or not). So if possible, Hamilton will remove the chance of Russell further proving that point.

    - Hamilton needs to kill Russell momentum. Until now, he had a solid but dull sidekick on Bottas, who would never question his leadership. Now imagine the potential scenario of having to share garage with a fan beloved kid who has completely amazed the F1 community with his driving. Basically the 2007 Alonso-Hamilton drama, but with Hamilton being the villain this time. Yes, Russell will end up driving in Mercedes soon (2022?), but by then maybe Hamilton has decided to hang up the gloves and let Russell be his heir.

And the fans of the sport are glad for it. The only time a Merc pole would have been popular here would be if George Russell had scored it. Or HWNSNBM of course...
